With its impressive trade fair appearance, »a new culture of light @ The Highrise«, Occhio is breaking completely new ground at this year’s Light + Building. The trade fair stand, covering an area of around 600 m², is an invitation to visitors to experience and enjoy a new culture of light. Inspired by the modern architecture of large urban spaces, living spaces are created in the imaginary »The Highrise« that illustrate the effect of light on the quality of life.
Munich, March 2018
A new culture of light
»Light is an elementary part of our life. We use light to create living spaces, mood and atmosphere«, says says Axel Meise, designer and founder of Occhio. »Light from Occhio is an invitation to enjoy and to feel, to create the exceptional, to share special moments, and to give expression to your own individuality.« In other words, Occhio is about more than just individual luminaires; it’s about a whole new culture of light. That’s exactly what brings this year’s trade fair appearance of the Munich-based design luminaire company to life. Occhio shows perfect light in use. Every situation highlights that quality of light is quality of life.
The trade fair concept: The Highrise
The spectacular trade fair stand »The Highrise« spreads out five floors of an imaginary high-rise building horizontally, producing fascinating living spaces and lighting moods: at home, at work, at a restaurant, in the lounge in the evening, or at a rooftop garden party. Architecture, lighting design and visitors combine in »The Highrise« to form lively scenes of a new culture of light. Open façade elements enable this culture to take its effect from outside, and Occhio’s latest product innovations to be experienced in practice. »Touch & Feel Areas« also invite visitors to explore the innovations.
Mito – an eye-catcher as an iconic arc lamp
An apartment area shows how the home becomes an expression of the inhabitant’s own personality through individual design with light. A cloud of Mito sospesos floats above a large table as a prominent design element in the room. A lounge is illuminated by the Mito raggio and Mito largo arc luminaires. Practically weightless, the Mito Ring floats with the characteristic cut on carbon rods above the furniture. The spectacular design reflects the entire innovation of the Mito Series. In addition to gesture control, Occhio Air is also integrated as standard, allowing convenient control via smart phone or tablet. Both luminaires will be launched on the market at the end of 2018 and are on of this year’s absolute highlights. As a pendant, ceiling or arc luminaire, Mito is always a design statement.
Mito linear – sensual purism for office and living
With the Mito linear, Occhio is expanding the application range of its unique Mito design line. The Mito linear series, due on the market at the end of 2018, offers innovative, perfectly coordinated lighting solutions for how we will live and work tomorrow. The system of ceiling, pendant and floor luminaires, consistent in design and lighting quality, offers maximum flexibility in room design – both at home and at work. The series also meets the high technical standards that are characteristic of Mito, such as adjustable colour temperature, optimum colour rendering, and up/down fading and gesture control. Multi-lens optics ensure perfect, glare-free lighting with maximum efficiency.
The Mito terra floor luminaires are designed for single or double tables, and are height-adjustable as required. The solid aluminium crafted bodies in interplay with the slender, practically floating Mito heads are responsible for the characteristic sculptural look.
The Mito volo pendant luminaire can be conveniently height-adjusted in the usual way with a simple hand movement. The ceiling spotlights in the Mito alto range round off the portfolio. Thanks to the all-in-one concept, Mito alto requires no external power supply units.
Sintesi – innovative lighting concept from Occhio and Audi Design
A separate restaurant at the trade fair stand impresses with its atmospheric mood. The room is devoted entirely to the new Sintesi luminaire series. Consisting of table, floor and pendant luminaires and recessed and surface-mounted spotlights, the series was developed in cooperation with Audi Design and will be available from mid-2019. Sintesi is a real innovation leader with light guide optics, as used in the automotive industry, and features such as gesture control, zoom and adjustable colour temperature. The highlight is the unusual Sintesi Cloud study – a pendant luminaire with 18 luminaire heads in rose gold, where the light colour can be adjusted without contact.
Sito – unique design and lighting quality now also for outdoors
Finally, the rooftop garden shows how receptive we are to lighting moods. It is illuminated to perfection by Sito. Due to be launched on the market this summer, Sito opens up a new world beyond the front door – perfect lighting now also outdoors. It extends Occhio’s portfolio, thus allowing the company to create new standards for outdoor luminaires. Sito, like all luminaire systems from Occhio, is consistent in its design and lighting quality, and offers optimum lighting solutions for every situation. The series consists of wall, ceiling, floor or path luminaires. Internal lenses provide the characteristic beams of light. Sito thus offers the right solution for every garden and terrace.
Meeting point for partners and friends
Culture needs locations, places where people can meet. Living spaces with atmosphere. That’s why the trade fair stand features solid wood tables and counters made of real stone and high-quality materials. The furniture is from Walter Knoll, among others. The concept for the trade fair appearance was developed by the architectural firm einszu33 in cooperation with the Martin et Karczinski agency. »The Highrise« becomes a meeting point for trade fair visitors with an affinity for light and design, and the home base for all Occhio partners. This is where the »new culture of light« can be experienced live. Welcome to Occhio!
